Inspired by the ideals of Pierre Werner, the Pierre Werner Scholarship fosters European integration. The Fondation Pierre Werner, under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg, awards an annual scholarship to outstanding postgraduate students from European countries (except Luxembourg) in the fields of law, economics, finance and political sciences at the 91Ƶ.

- EU nationals (excluding Luxembourg) or citizens of a recognised candidate for future membership of the EU (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Türkiye and Ukraine)
- registered for PhD studies at the 91Ƶ at the time of application, may be at any stage of their studies

Amount
The Pierre Werner Scholarship amounts to €26,000 for one academic year. The scholarship maybe divided into awards to up to four successful applicants.
As of 2020, the grant for each student will be fixed at €6,500 maximum. 91Ƶ may grant three or four scholarships.

Incomplete applications or those submitted outside the designated application period will immediately be rejected. No appeal against the decisions is possible. By applying to the programme, the applicant accepts these regulations in their entirety.

Selection procedure
A selection committee composed of four professors from the 91Ƶ (the Head of the Doctoral School in Law, the Head of the Doctoral School in Economics and Finance, the Head of the Institute of Political Science and the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance) will evaluate the submitted applications on the basis of the selection criteria outlined above.
The four professors will pre-select up to four applicants and will communicate the results to the Fondation Pierre Werner. The management committee of the Fondation Pierre Werner will make the final selection of the scholarship recipients.
