Why study with us?

The educational environment is rapidly changing. Following international trends in both teacher education and teacher professionalisation, the Luxembourg fundamental education ecosystem has gradually diversified its teaching body, and progressively complemented its teaching staff with specialised teachers (and other specialists).

The need for both increasing professionalisation, specialisation, and multi-professional collaboration in education is rooted in consequential educational challenges, including the:

  • handling of increasingly heterogeneous (and often multilingual) student populations;
  • adequate consideration for diversity and special needs;
  • tackling well-known yet persistent educational inequalities;
  • efficient and effective management of educational resources in (non)formal educational settings, more generally;
  • integration of formal, non-formal, and informal education;
  • impact of so-called global mega-trends on educational practices and programmes, and, closely related to the latter;
  • the meaningful integration of (possibly disruptive) technologies.

The present Master touches on all of these interconnected educational challenges and is specifically designed to equip the students with principles and practices of digital education, inclusion and innovation in education.

What do we offer our students?

Professional opportunities

The graduates will be well placed to take up a wide range of pedagogical and didactic leadership positions in the Luxembourg education system, such as instituteur spécialisé, regional directors and deputy directors.

The Government’s new also foresees the creation of additional master-level career— notably for school president and coordinateur de cycle.

Collaboration across programmes

To promote multi-professional teams that share a common knowledge base, students of all three Master’s programmes in Educational Sciences will attend a number of shared courses, which will provide a grounded understanding of pressing (inter)national educational challenges and introduce all students to the fundamentals of inclusion, governance, and innovation in education.

Close to practice

As part-time and on-the-job, this programme for teaching professionals is by design close to practice and explicitly rooted in the Luxembourg education system.

Students will develop towards reflective practitioners that is teaching professionals who are able to combine their academic research-based knowledge with their practical experience.
