AI Café 2024, hosted by the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Department of Computer Science, brought together citizens, researchers, and thought leaders for a dynamic series of debates on the societal impact of artificial intelligence. Designed as a platform for open dialogue and critical thinking, the event encouraged public participation through live polling, Q&A sessions, and interactive discussions. This year’s themes explored AI’s role in the labor market and its potential in education and creativity, featuring insights from leading experts across academia, industry, and policy. The AI Café continues to foster a unique exchange—where citizens not only learn from experts but also shape the conversation around AI’s future.

AI Café 2024 Competition: Celebrating innovation and imagination
As part of the AI Café 2024 initiative, citizens across Luxembourg were invited to submit original and creative ideas related to artificial intelligence. The competition welcomed a wide range of entries—from visionary AI-based solutions and robotic demonstrations to optimization proposals and improvement suggestions. Special encouragement was given to pupils and students, fostering youth engagement in the future of AI. All submissions were evaluated by a jury of experts, and the top six entries were selected to present their ideas live during the evening event on 3 December. The finalists competed for prizes of €2000, €1500, and €1000, awarded to the top three projects. The event showcased the ingenuity and forward-thinking spirit of the Luxembourg community, highlighting the importance of citizen participation in shaping AI’s role in society.
