The Ministry of Education, Children and Youth (MENJE) launched the pilot in 2022\/2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conducted by the University\u2019 research group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fhse-en\/research-groups\/luxembourg-centre-for-educational-testing-lucet\/\">LUCET<\/a> (The Luxembourg Centre for Educational Testing), the study addresses whether using French affects pupils\u2019 later learning outcomes, particularly for children from households that do not speak a Germanic language at home.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LUCET collected data through its national school assessment tool<em> \u00c9preuves Standardis\u00e9es<\/em> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.epstan.lu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00c9pStan<\/a>). The study followed pupils from Cycle 2.1, in the school year 2023\/24, to Cycle 3.1, in 2025\/26. Future analyses will follow participating pupils through later school years, to provide additional insight on the implementation and outcomes of the ALPHA pilot within Luxembourg&#8217;s multilingual education system.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"the-lucet-research-group\"\n    >\nThe LUCET research group<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>LUCET\u2019s main expertise lies in large-scale assessment and testing of multilingual learning environments. Since its creation over a decade ago, the centre has set up and continuously advanced data-based assessments of Luxembourg\u2019s national school system.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its largest commissioned research project is the implementation and continuous enhancement of the Luxembourg school monitoring programme <em>\u00c9preuves Standardis\u00e9es<\/em> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.epstan.lu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00c9pStan<\/a>). Through \u00c9pStan, LUCET can provide timely and policy-relevant information to national educational stakeholders.
